Book Sunday Lunch25 minutes from Nottingham. Worth every one of them.
For Sunday lunch near Nottingham, most options ask you to stay in the city. The Reindeer asks you to leave it. The pub sits in the village of Hoveringham, just off the A612 through the Trent Valley. Twenty-five minutes from the city centre, 10 minutes from Southwell, directly beside the cricket ground.
The terrace looks out over the pitch. On a good Sunday, with the sun on the tables and the sound of leather on willow drifting across the boundary, there is no better Sunday roast in Nottinghamshire. Not in a city restaurant. Not at a chain. Here.

A kitchen that takes produce seriously
More about Billy and the kitchenThe Reindeer exists for one reason: to serve the very best produce we can get our hands on. Great ingredients have a story behind them: the people who raise them, grow them and care for them. Our responsibility is to honour that work by cooking with skill, restraint and attention to detail.
Simple in principle. Uncompromising in execution.

The Sunday roast, done properly
Choose from dry-aged beef, roast pork belly, corn-fed chicken or wild mushroom pithivier, all served with roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and gravy.
The beef is dry-aged by Dunwood Farms in Staffordshire. The chicken comes from Packington Farms in the same county. These are not generic roasts. The producers are named on the menu because they earn it.
Booking recommended. Sundays fill early, particularly in summer when the terrace is open.
